The Japan Chapter of Columbia Venture Community (CVC) hosted a virtual session with Akihiko Soyama, President and CEO at LINK-J. He shared his work experience to date and LINK-J’s efforts in generating life science innovations in Nihonbashi, Tokyo as well as innovation trends.

In this virtual session, we touched on the following topics:

- Professional experience that led him to the current position at LINK-J

- How LINK-J is building a life science hub in the Nihonbashi area, Tokyo Japan

Akihiko Soyama | President and CEO, LINK-J (Life Science Innovation Network Japan)

Aki has been President and CEO of LINK-J since its foundation in 2016. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Director at METI (GOJ), project manager at Boston Consulting Group in Tokyo, Vice President/General Manager at Johnson and Johnson Japan, President at Biotronik Japan and President at Haemonetics Japan. Aki holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BS (Physics) from University of Tokyo. Aki also serves as a specially appointed Professor of Tohoku University and life science related committee member of MHLW (GOJ), METI (GOJ), AMED(GOJ), Kobe City, Sapporo City, etc.

曽山 明彦（そやま あきひこ）| LINK-J（一般社団法人ライフサイエンス・イノベーション・ネットワーク・ジャパン）

常務理事 東京大学理学部物理学科卒業後、通商産業省（現経済産業省）入省。人事院長期在外研究員として米国コロンビア大学ビジネススクールに留学（MBA）。（株）ボストンコンサルティンググループのマネージャー、トランス・コスモス（株）専務取締役を経て、ジョンソン・エンド・ジョンソン（株）ヴァイスプレジデント、複数の欧米系医療機器企業の日本法人社長を歴任。東北大学特任教授。厚生労働省、経済産業省、AMED、神戸市、札幌市の委員会メンバー等を務める。
